In today's world, poultry dishes are more than just comfort food. They are desirable delicacies strategically crafted to satisfy unstinting calls of hunger. Specializing in this impression is Le Coq Rico; a large scale, moderately expensive French bistro located in the Flatiron district of Manhattan, New York City. Point Blank: if you like chicken, Le Coq Rico is one of the best choices around.
Led by Michelin-Starred chef, Antoine Westermann, the eatery has indeed elevated what it means to enjoy an authentic chicken experience. It reads in the quality of the establishment's expertise and knack for curating its sizable menu. Hungry yet? Three of my favorite dishes extend below:
- Leeks Vinaigrette
Leeks Vinaigrette is a light appetizer to start with. It is a signature french dish that is boiled and marinated in a vinaigrette. Le Coq Rico prepares the dish with Hollandaise sauce which gives the dish an extra ounce of flavor.
- Le Coq Rico Poultry burger
Served with a side of fries, Le Coq Rico's poultry burger is made with seared duck foie, and pineapple. Before trying this particular delicacy for the first time ever, I was a bit hesitant but soon was I to find out that the dish is far from a let down. It's just as tasty as it sounds with the pineapple adding some freshness to the treat of it all. Definitely more on the sweeter side of the taste palate.
- Vanilla Ile Flottante
The Ile Flottante is a signature french dessert that is as velvety and as rich as it sounds. It is essentially meringue (egg whites, sugar and vanilla extracts) floating on top of crème anglaise. Le Coq Rico features red almond praline in this specific dessert. Beautifully served.
